Ranbir gets quoteworthy with Filmfare!!

Seriously, Ranbir Kapoor really gave some interesting answers to Filmfare’s Anuradha Choudhary questions about his upcoming release Wake Up Sid, relationships (aka Deepika Padukone) and being a Kapoor.
Here are some interview highlights:
There’s a transitional phase in everyone’s life, when you finish college, you have to start a career and pursue something. And you are a bit aimless in life, you just want to hang out with your friends, you want to watch TV, you want to party, listen to music and you don’t want anything in life. Its that time in Sid’s life, when suddenly everyone’s asking him what his plans or goals are and he doesn’t have an answer.
- On what Wake Up Sid means to him
Konkona doesn’t get overly friendly with her co-stars. We had an amazing time. During the entire process of making Wake Up Sid, I truly found someone who apart from being talents, is a good soul.

I was in a relationship with an older woman for a long, long time. But where Wake Up Sid is concerned it doesn’t really harp on the fact that she’s an older woman.

Honestly, I haven’t seen that side of life where I have not seen money. So money has never been a criterion. I’m extremely passionate about great cinema and acting. I would give up money for a great role.

Because my dad is such a natural and passionate actor, I’ve never been compared to him. I know I’m not even two percent of what my dad is. I’m here to make my own identity. I want to be known as Ranbir Kapoor and not Rishi Kapoor’s son.

I see everyone as competition. My competition is not just Shahid Kapoor, Imran Khan, Prateik (Babbar) or Hurman Baweja. My competition is everyone from Amitabh Bachchan to Darsheel Saffary (the little boy from Taare Zameen Par). I don’t get upset if I see someone else perform well. I do feel jealous about it.

I do aspire to be the greatest superstar in the world; I do aspire to be the greatest superstar in the world. And I’ve made myself the promise that one day I will achieve that.
- Future aspirations as an actor
No, I don’t think acting is in the genes. There are so many superstars whose children and grandchildren have failed. People have a wrong notion that if you want to be an actor, you must enroll in dance classes or must get a good body. It takes alot more than that. Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan haven’t become such great actors just because they had luck on their side. They are great actors because they believe in what they do. They have seen alot in life. They have great reference points. Unfortunately, I don’t have as many reference points as others. Because I have been brought up in happy family surroundings.

Memories. The way you look at the world, the exposure you have to the world. Duniyadaari, I don’t have much of duniyadaari.

I can write a book on my grandfather. He’s my favourite filmmaker. I feel so connected to him. And I feel so proud that I’m from his lineage. He’s my idol. I’m still discovering him. You need many lifetimes to understand the legend he was.

My family has been contributing to cinema for the last 75 years. They eat, breathe and sleep cinema. My entire family is a bit delusional. We live in a parallel world, not in a practical one. Today if I’m talking to Filmfare, I attribute alot of that to the family I come from. I have the grounding in me to say that I’ll be known as Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s son and Raj Kapoor’s grandson. I don’t know how Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have notice me (without the surname I have).

Directing two films, extremly successful and made an impact on the audience. Married with two kids. Having a better body than I have today. A new haircut, a better body that I have today and a little bit more maturity and therav.

I’m serious about her. It’s not a frivolous relationship. We still have to discover each other. We’re just a year and a half old. She’s a really great girlfriend, she cares alot about me.

I’m not in touch with Karisma because she’s always shufflign between Delhi and Mumbai. But I’m in touch with Kareena. She’s so talented. I’ve seen every movie of hers. I would love to do a movie where I play her brother
