Katrina Kaif looked like a vision in white at the promotional event for Nakshatra Jewelry, of which she was named the new brand ambassador.

If reports are to be believed, KK snatched this endorsement from the well-manicured hands of none other than Aishwarya Rai Bachan…. *dun dun dun*

Why Mrs Aishwarya Rai Bachan? Whyyyyy?

Velvet? But then again, it’s hard to blame you much, must be your horribly jealous stylist who puts you in ugly clothes so he/she can have the last laugh. Ok, maybe we’re pushing it but but where is your own judgement call? You were doing so amazingly well at IIFA and Cannes and then this!

Your makeup makes you look excessively tired and the dress does nothing for your figure.

Blah.

We know, we know. It’s not particularly newsworthy to say that mother-in-law Jaya Bachan loves her bahu Aishwarya Rai and thinks she deserved that Indian International Film Academy award for Best Actress much more than Priyanka Chopra! But it IS noteworthy that the Bachan clan is going on and on about this 2 weeks after the incident! Honestly, if you are considered the “The First Family”  of the industry, isn’t your head matriarch taking it a bit too far when she said that Aish deserved it more for Jodha Akbar than Piggy Chops did for Fashion?

A Quick Recap of this whole icky icky mess.

- Aclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar of Lagaan goes on-stage to accept at IIFA where he says: Priyanka I love you, but I don’t know how you got the award when Ash was nominated in the same category! Then he realizes what he just said and does damage control by further insulting her: You are really hardworking Priyanka but Aish is a natural.

- Priyanka keeps her cool, doesn’t comment and skips the IIFA afterparty (rightly so!) at the Aishwarya-Abhishek’s hotel suite.

However, it doesn’t end there.

See the sketchiest part of this whole thing is that Priyanka is the STAR of Ashutosh’s new movie Whats Your Rashee?. Yes the STAR. So when did publicly insulting your heroine in front of all her colleagues become acceptable?

And ontop of that Jaya was quoted in a recent interview where she admitted that she told Ashutosh to bring up why Aish wasn’t given an award: I suggested he (Ashutosh) bring up the question on-stage at IIFA. We were discussing why Aishwarya has not been given any award for JA. So when he mentioned my name, he wasn’t doing anything wrong. For all I know she (Priyanka) must be really good in the movie. I haven’t seen it…I don’t have objection to her winning the award. But I wonder why Aishwarya’s fine performance was ignored. I think she richly deserved recognition for their work.

So JB didn’t even watch Fashion yet she thinks her bahu deserved the award more.

SIGH.

We at the MM are quite pleased that FINALLY more and more of our film actress’s are embracing the sari as their red (or in this case green) carpet choice.

It’s sexy Priyanka Chopra, sophisticated Aishwarya Rai, scintillating Lara Dutta and ethereal Raima Sen.

So it seems in Mumbai-land, the trend towards lal is here to stay! Over the course of the months, everyone from Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Preity Zinta have been turning out to red carpet premiers, film fests and launches in dresses of various shades of red.

Some of the desi ladies are working it more than others.
